What kind of Sumitomo products do you offer? What strengths stand behind your offering?
We would like to highlight the WDX indexable drill from dia 13-68 for drilling depths. 2xD, 3xD, 4xD, and 5xD with the same rhombic insert for both the center and periphery cutting positions. With several optimized cutting geometries for both high feeds and also easy cutting properties. WDX is suitable for drilling in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and aluminum. This drill is perfect for the automotive and engineering industries as well as in the aerospace industry, medicine, biotechnology, and telecom.
How do you describe your encounter and connection with Sumitomo?
How do you perceive Sumitomo as a manufacturer and supplier in the cutting tool market?
Sumitomo is perceived as a strong, technologically advanced manufacturer and supplier in the cutting tool market, known for its high-quality products like cemented carbide, CBN, and diamond tools, which are used across the Swedish industries, including automotive and aviation. The company's strengths lie in its extensive history and experience, innovative material and surface treatment technologies.
What do your customers think of Sumitomo's cutting tools?
Sumitomo makes a complete line of cutting tools for the automotive industry. For each machining operation, my sales team will find Sumitomo products that are the perfect blend of quality, accuracy, and value for the truck making companies in Sweden. To quote my colleague Mikael Andersson “If you would like to discuss in person how our automotive products can give your production line a boost, please contact me. What was the most significant challenge that Sumitomo's tools became the solution for?
The most significant challenge Sumitomo's tools became a solution for was the difficulty in high-precision and high-efficiency machining of hard materials and complex shapes, which had been a long-standing issue for our automotive manufacturing industry in Sweden. For example, Sumitomo developed cemented carbide drills and other tools that enabled the use of cemented carbide for a previously thought-to-be impossible drilling application.
What has been the most memorable experience in your collaboration with Sumitomo?
The most memorable experiences in collaboration with Sumitomo in Osaka are diverse, including the creation and daily operation of the Sumitomo Pavilion at EXPO 2025. The team adapted to visitor feedback and the diverse reactions to the immersive experience. Other memorable experiences include creating a strong bond with local partners, as well as development initiatives that promote friendship.
